Bromont, montagne d’expériences (BME) launched its new chairlift on Saturday, December 23. Installed on Versant des Épinettes, the high-speed chairlift and mountain development work totaled an investment of $12 million.
“The launch of the Express des Épinettes chairlift is the culmination of a major project that has spanned over several years,” says Charles Désourdy, President of BME. “I’m very proud of our teams’ work and their collaboration with all the stakeholders involved. This was no small project; we committed to replacing the old lift two years ago and investing in developing Versant des Épinettes. This winter, skiers will be able to reach the summit in 5 minutes and rediscover a slope that is truly worth it!”
The official ribbon-cutting took place in front of a crowd of skiers gathered for the event at the foot of the lift.
“We are extremely proud to have been BME’s partner for over 20 years. It’s a privilege to work with a team of passionate people who are constantly improving the customer experience on their mountain. The Express des Épinettes will not only transport mountain lovers to the summit, but also create lasting memories and unforgettable experiences,” says Luc Guy, President and CEO of Doppelmayr Canada.
With the support of the Quebec government, the mountain has succeeded in enhancing the skier’s experience with major improvements including the creation of a new signature trail, the Brantford (99), and a lighting system on this same trail as well as on the Petawawa trail. In addition, the replacement of the ski lift will ensure the smooth flow of skiers on all slopes. These new features on Versant des Épinettes complete the achievements of the 2022-23 season, which consisted in the installation of a lighting and snowmaking system on the Ottawa trail.
These new investments were part of Project Altitude. When the project is completed in 2026, the resort will have invested a total of $122 million.
