Actions that
see far ahead

Every day, we take action to preserve the environment around us. Our actions are as much environmental as they are social, cultural, economic, governance and ethical.

DEVELOPING THE MOUNTAIN SUSTAINABLY

Big spring clean-up

Every year in May, the entire mountain team mobilizes for a major clean-up effort. Together, we manage to divert hundreds of cans and bottles from landfill. Moreover, the kilometers covered by our ATVs during the activity for efficiency purposes are credited as carbon offsets with Carbone Boréal. It’s also an opportunity for employees to return their uniforms to reclaim the textiles.

Sustainable purchasing guide

Bromont, montagne d’expériences now has a sustainable purchasing guide that includes specific criteria for choosing products and suppliers. As a result, all our teams are now contributing to a sustainable future.

Reforestation in the mountain

Every year, various areas of the mountain and the edges of the trails are reforested. You might have already seen the plantings on the Versant des Épinettes and Mont Soleil. In the fall of 2024, 1,000 trees will be planted!

USE RESOURCES EFFICIENTLY AND REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

Outdoor plants to decorate our offices

Last fall, we brought in the large plants that decorated the Water Park and distributed them among the offices. With the arrival of the summer season, these plants were collected and returned outside.

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions

We offer customers the possibility of offsetting their greenhouse gas emissions for their trip to the mountain. The option is suggested when purchasing online. All contributions are donated to Carbone Boréal and will be used to finance plantations located mainly in Quebec’s boreal forest, but also on parcels of unused farmland.

The donations collected during the 2023-24 season were offset by 120 trees from the 2022 forest plantation.

New shuttle service

In order to contribute to responsible mobility and optimize our customers’ commute, a shuttle system has been set up for the 2023-24 ski season. This system serves the occupants of 5 condominiums close to the mountain. Users can even follow the shuttle’s route in real time! Nearly 4,000 customers were shuttled during winter 2023-2024.

Addition of charging stations

Four new electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in the P2 parking lot.

Car-pooling zone

A car-pooling zone is in place in the P1 parking lot of Versant du Village. Around 128 places are reserved for customers traveling with 2 or more people. The area demarcated by green banners is very close to the reception buildings and the foot of the slopes!

Turn Off Your Engine Initiative

Posters have been put up at the drop-off point to invite customers to turn off their engines. Obvious for some, a little less so for others, our beautiful posters are in place as a little reminder.

A mini sorting center that recycles big!

A small bottle sorting center opened at the mountain in November 2021. Thanks to the Pleins Rayons apprentices who are now employed in the Hygiene and Sanitation and Food Services teams, we successfully diverted over 77,000 bottles and cans from landfill between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024! The returnable cans are transported to the Granby IGA, and the proceeds will be reinvested in our sustainable development projects.

Furniture donation

The 3rd floor of the administration building is being renovated. So we took advantage of this major clean-up to give a second life to furniture that would no longer be of use to us. Initially offered to employees, some twenty pieces of furniture and office supplies were finally donated to 6 local organizations.

Keeping construction waste out of landfill

Our teams sort each of our construction materials with a view to recycling them. The Centre de tri de résidus de construction de Bromont then collects them to give them a second life. To date, our efforts have enabled us to divert 87% of our residues from landfill!

PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN LOCAL AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Quebec food choices on the menu

Bromont, montagne d’expériences restaurants are recognized by the Aliments du Québec au menu program. This means we value Quebec products and showcase them on our menus!

Affordable swimming lessons for Bromont residents

Since summer 2023, we’ve been offering the Water Park facilities to hold swimming lessons so young Bromonters can learn to swim safely!
New in 2024, we’ll also be training the next generation of lifeguards! We’ll be offering the combined Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross training courses to enable teenagers to obtain their first lifesaving certifications.

Bromont, montagne d’expériences opens its Water Park to Bromont residents

For the second year in a row, Bromont, montagne d’expériences is offering free access to the Water Park for Bromont residents on three days in summer 2024 : Saturday June 15, Sunday July 7 and Wednesday July 10 (valid BCITI+ card required). This includes access to all aquatic facilities and mountain activities such as mountain luge, gondola rides, climbing wall, trampo-bungee, disc golf and slackline park.

Free ski and snowboard lessons for Bromont residents

The mountain is offering free beginner ski and snowboard lessons to Bromont residents. Starting in December 2024, Bromont residents, young and old, who want to learn to ski and snowboard can do so in complete safety during 4 Première glisse lessons that will take place exclusively on the Pente-École.

Première glisse introductory courses are specially designed for people who have never skied or snowboarded before. It’s a 90-minute group lesson that also includes ski or snowboard equipment rental.

During the winter of 2023-24, a total of 63 Bromont residents took advantage of this offer!

Free access to the Mont Soleil lift for Bromont residents

The mountain is an integral part of Bromont’s lifestyle, and this initiative aims to ensure that as many citizens as possible can enjoy it. To this end, over 600 Mont Soleil passes have been issued for the 2023-2024 season!

For the 2024-25 ski season, resident skiers will once again have access to the Mont Soleil slopes at all times from Monday to Friday, and from 5 p.m. to closing time on weekends.

BE A WELCOMING AND ENRICHING ENVIRONMENT FOR EMPLOYEES AND VISITORS

Participation in the Accès-Loisirs Program

For the 2024-25 ski season, we will offer group ski lessons, lift tickets, and seasonal rentals to four Bromont residents through the Accès-Loisirs program. This program, initiated by Accès-Loisirs Québec, aims to make sports, cultural, and outdoor activities freely accessible to people of all ages who are in a low-income situation, in collaboration with community partners.

Adaptive skiing in the mountain

Once again this year, we are proud of our partnership with the Fondation des sports adaptés. This means that people living with a disability can enjoy the ski facilities and slopes.

Kéroul certification

Bromont, montagne d’expériences has received partial accessibility certification from Kéroul for its ski and Water Park facilities. Kéroul’s mission is to make tourism and culture accessible to people with restricted physical ability.

Welcome to the Centre de pédiatrie sociale Main dans la main

Two groups of young people from the Centre de pédiatrie sociale Main dans la main spent a day at the mountain and were introduced to the pleasures of skiing with our ski school instructors.

Welcoming the Bromont Garderies les Couleurs

On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, we graciously welcomed 4 and 5 year-olds from Garderies les Couleurs. The toddlers enjoyed the new slides, the Matelot and the Capitaine, added this year to the Moussaillons, right next to the Ile aux Aventuriers.

Inclusive hiring with Pleins Rayons

Bromont, montagne d’expériences stands out for its inclusive hiring, made possible through its collaboration with the Pleins Rayons organization, which promotes the successful social inclusion of young adults with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.
